The Healthy Okotoks Coalition (HOC) began December 1996 with a partnership and commitment to a Healthy Community Process between the Town of Okotoks and Headwaters Health Authority. The HOC now boasts over 50 members with a core group of 15 that meets once a month. The vision statement for the HOC is:

Okotoks our Healthy Home,

and the mission statement is:

To Facilitate and Promote Community Wellness Through Partnerships (see terms of reference)

To date the HOC has been involved in many activities, which have positively contributed to the health of the community. Some of these activities include:

• Fall Community Clean Up,
• Prevention of Family Violence Articles,
• FAS Community Education Night,
• Youth Forum and Survey,
• Community Garden,
• Chaos Theory and Collaboration: Community Presentation,
• Tree Planting,

and formation of:

• Community Transportation Committee,
• FAS presentation and Grade 8 poster campaign focusing on FAS prevention,
• For Future's Sake,
• Helmet Safety and
• Habitat for Humanity.
