1999: Community Garden

Thanks to a lot of volunteers, some generous sponsors and grants, HOC designed and built the first Community Garden in Okotoks in 1999. Some of the raised-bed plots are devoted to growing vegetables for the Okotoks Food Bank.

2000: Toxic Tunnel

HOC sponsored the display of this 27-foot long tunnel exhibition for a week at the Foothills Composite High School.

The Toxic Tunnel was a walk-through experience displaying posters about tobacco dangers and reduction.

2001: Sports Helmet Safety

With the aim of promoting helmet use and safety in Okotoks, HOC organized several events to distribute coupons for discounted sports helmets to children and youth in Okotoks.

Funding came from the Alberta Centre for Injury Control and Research.
