Town of Okotoks

Okotoks is a progressive, energetic community of 10,000 residents situated 15 minutes south of Calgary in the beautiful Sheep River valley. The high standard of housing, well-planned subdivisions, numerous community parks, enviable school system, and pristine river valley provide a quality lifestyle for our residents. Okotoks is internationally recognized for its commitment to sustainable development.

Headwaters Health Authority

Headwaters Health Authority (HHA) is one of seventeen Regional Health Authorities in Alberta. It is a relatively large, sparsely populated rural region with a strong urban influence. Headwaters is situated in the southwesterly area of the province, bordering the Cities of Calgary and Lethbridge. The region is divided into six service areas for management purposes.

Health services provided on a local service are basis are: community care, acute care and emergency, continuing care, health promotion and prevention. Current services offered in Okotoks include: Public health, home care, laboratory, mental health, speech therapy, and environmental health.

Project Partners

Literacy for Life Foundation – Foothills M.D.

This foundation works to give parents tools to help their children. Trained Literacy Builders visit families in their own homes to teach skills, present resources and support parents. Programs include Building Blocks and Books for Babies.

Rotary Club

The Community Health Council is a group of volunteers who provide a community voice to help plan health care services for our communities. Their role is to: gather input on health needs and services, provide advice to the Health Authority about health issues and needs in the community, involve the community and promote activities that support health in the community.

Habitat for Humanity – Okotoks

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. We welcome all people to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable, houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter.
