Society of Healthy Okotoks Coalition was incorporated on October 22, 1998
Membership
- To be inclusive rather than exclusive
- Ensure broad representation from all sectors
Coalition Chair
- The President and the Vice President will be elected at the Annual General meeting and will serve as Co-Chairs
- Facilitative approach
- Responsibilities:
- Call the meetings
- Set the agenda with input from members
- Facilitate meetings
- Delegate tasks
- Facilitate conflict resolution process when necessary
- Keep meetings on time and on task
Coalition Secretary
- Elected at the Annual General Meeting
- Keeps accurate minutes of all regular meetings
Coalition Treasurer
- Elected at the Annual General meeting
- Properly accounts for the funds of the Healthy Okotoks Coalition
- Keeps books and prepares financial statements, duly audited, for the Annual General Meeting
Coalition Directors
- Three Directors will be elected at the Annual General Meeting

Audit Committee
- Two members, other than the Treasurer, will be elected at the Annual General Meeting
Spokesperson
- Will be the co-chairs
- Local media will be involved as a partner
- Task groups, as formed, will identify a chair and spokesperson within their group
Meetings
- At the call of the chair, with input from the coalition
- Generally meetings will be the second and fourth Tuesday of the month
- Agenda package prior to meeting
- Meetings will not last longer than two hours
- Distribution of meeting notes will be contributed by the Town of Okotoks
Decision Making Process

- Consensus, arrive at a common position

- If unable to arrive at consensus, be open to external conflict resolution resources
Role of the Coalition
- To be action oriented!
- Facilitate networking and collaboration within the community to bring all sectors together to create a healthier community
- Not to become caught up in bureaucratic process
- To make a difference to the health of the community
- To have fun!

- Development of speakers bureau
- Informal presentation word of mouth
- Information updates in the Western Wheel
- Community input and feedback
- Bi-annual newsletter
- Development of a Web site and e-mail capability
